Julien Doré

Julien Doré is a French singer-songwriter, musician, and actor who rose to national prominence as the winner of the fifth season of the television music competition Nouvelle Star, broadcast on the French channel M6. Throughout his career, he has achieved significant commercial success as a recording artist across France, Belgium, and Switzerland.

Born on July 7, 1982, in Alès in the Gard department of Occitanie, Doré spent his youth growing up in Lunel. He completed his secondary education by earning his baccalauréat littéraire at the college Louis Feuillade. Following his secondary studies, he pursued higher education in the arts, attending the École des Beaux-Arts of Nîmes for five years.

Before gaining widespread recognition, Doré was active in forming musical projects. He was the founder of the band Dig up Elvis. In 2006, he teamed up with Guillaume de Molina to launch a protean musical project titled The Jean d'Ormesson disco suicide, which covered pop and disco hits. In June 2007, Doré was voted number one in French Elle Magazine's "15 Sexiest Men" poll.

Doré's major career breakthrough occurred in 2007 when he auditioned in Marseille for the fifth season of Nouvelle Star, presenting himself with a ukulele. His initial motivation for participating in the casting was to gain free publicity for his band. During the audition, he convinced the jury by singing "A la faveur de l'automne," originally by Tété. Over the course of the competition, he became known for his acoustic renditions of dance tracks, including "Moi... Lolita" by Alizée and "...Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears. He ultimately won the competition after competing against Tigane in the finale.

Following his win on Nouvelle Star, Doré established a successful recording career. He released his debut studio album, Ersatz, in 2008, followed by his second studio album, Bichon, in 2011, and his third studio album, Løve, in 2013. All three albums reached the top four on the official French Albums Chart, while also attaining chart success in Belgium and Switzerland.

In addition to his solo album releases, Doré has engaged in notable musical collaborations and television appearances. In 2009, he recorded a duet with Cœur de Pirate titled "Pour un infidèle," accompanied by a promotional video portraying the two as a 1960s-era celebrity couple. That same year, he recorded the song "Helsinki" with French singer Mélanie Pain. In 2010, he collaborated with French chanteuse Sylvie Vartan on her album release, Soleil bleu. Doré also appeared as a guest coach on Season 4 of The Voice: la plus belle voix, the French adaptation of the reality singing competition The Voice, where he guided candidates Quentin Bruno and Law.

In his personal life, Doré previously dated Louise Bourgoin. The couple separated in March 2009.
