Julian Perretta

Julian Remo Perretta, born on 13 January 1989, is an Italian-born and London-raised singer-songwriter and producer. He first achieved public attention in 2010 with the release of his debut single "Wonder Why" and is best known for his successful music career across continental Europe and his work with prominent international artists.

Perretta was raised in London by an Italian father and an Irish mother, and he has one sister. At the age of 15, he left school to pursue his musical career. He began building an early audience by performing live music sets in pubs and bars throughout central London, including regular appearances at The Water Rats in Kings Cross.

Shortly after leaving school, Perretta established connections with members of the band Jamiroquai and started recording demos. His early career expanded significantly in May 2008 when he joined Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse on a European tour, singing the Smiths' song "Stop Me." In November 2009, singer Beyoncé invited him to perform as a special guest on her "I Am" Arena Tour, and she later invited him back as a special guest on her Formation Tour in July 2017.

Perretta officially signed with Universal Music Group in 2010. Jamiroquai members Matt Johnson and Rob Harris produced his debut record. His debut single, "Wonder Why," was released in the UK by Columbia Records and received its initial national radio broadcast in January 2010 on BBC Radio 1 by Annie Mac. The single gained platinum certification, reached the top five on multiple iTunes charts in Europe, and led to performances on French television programs Le Grand Journal and Taratata in October 2010.

His debut studio album, Stitch Me Up, was released on 27 March 2011 to positive critical reviews. The album reached number one in France, performed reasonably well in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Holland, and earned platinum certification a year later. To support the release, Perretta undertook a European tour of 104 shows starting in March 2011. A deluxe re-edition featuring seven new tracks and behind-the-scenes footage was released in October 2011, alongside a promotional video for the track "Ride My Star."

Perretta has engaged in numerous high-profile artistic partnerships across various genres, working alongside figures such as Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, Dua Lipa, Mark Ronson, Lil Baby, and Los Angeles producer Zhu. He joined Ed Sheeran on several European tour dates in late 2012. On 13 November 2015, he released "Miracle," a collaboration with Belgian producer Lost Frequencies from his second album, Karma. The song achieved commercial success, selling over 1.2 million copies and reaching number one in more than 14 countries.

In subsequent years, Perretta continued to work with international dance and pop acts. In 2022, his vocals were featured on the global hit single "Miss You" by German producer Southstar. In 2023, he collaborated with Purple Disco Machine and Kungs on the single "Substitution."
