Early Life and Software Engineering

Johnson grew up in Gainesville, Florida, graduating from Eastside High School with an International Baccalaureate diploma. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science with high honors in 2014. Following graduation, Johnson worked in software development, completing engineering internships at Google and Yelp before becoming a senior software engineer and engineering manager at Patreon in San Francisco. During his tech career, he began creating satirical vlogs and educational videos detailing his daily life and work in Silicon Valley.

YouTube and Commentary Content

Although Johnson launched his primary YouTube channel in 2006, he began uploading videos regularly in 2017 while still working in tech. His content pivoted toward insightful and humorous commentary, tackling viral trends, life hack channels, and internet culture. Collaborations with fellow creators like Drew Gooden, Danny Gonzalez, and Kurtis Conner helped expand his reach. Johnson also manages secondary channels, such as Jarvis Johnson! Alongside fellow creator Jordan Adika, whom he met while working at Patreon, Johnson co-hosts Sad Boyz, a weekly comedy and mental health podcast covering personal experiences, emotional well-being, and current internet events.
