Harry Brewis

Harry Brewis, known online as Hbomberguy (and occasionally Harris Bomberguy), is a British YouTuber, media critic, and video essayist born on September 19, 1992, in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. He is widely recognized for his humorous, exhaustive, and critical video essays covering video games, film, internet culture, and social commentary. Across his main YouTube channel, Brewis has amassed over 1.8 million subscribers and established himself as one of the commentary genre's most prominent long-form creators.

Early Life and Background

Brewis grew up in West Yorkshire, England, and attended Aberystwyth University in Wales, where he studied English literature with a focus on creative writing. Before pursuing YouTube full-time, he gained professional experience working in information technology as an IT engineer and as an animator for educational digital channels.

Online Career and Content

Brewis launched his primary YouTube channel in May 2006, initially releasing short satires, media critiques, and political commentary. He gained early traction with his "A Measured Response" series, which debunked online conspiracy theories and political arguments using humor and research. Over time, he transitioned into long-form video essays that deeply examine video games, cinema, and digital media trends. Popular releases include in-depth retrospectives on titles like Fallout 3 and Bloodborne, alongside investigative projects such as "ROBLOX_OOF.mp3", which traced the origins of a famous sound effect. In December 2023, Brewis published "Plagiarism and You(Tube)", a landmark four-hour documentary investigating intellectual property theft among digital creators, which accumulated tens of millions of views and prompted major online discourse.

Charity Work and Public Profile

In January 2019, Brewis organized a continuous multi-day Twitch gaming marathon playing Donkey Kong 64 to raise funds for Mermaids, a UK charity supporting transgender youth. The viral stream raised over $340,000 and featured guest cameos from high-profile politicians, activists, and public figures. For his fundraising achievements, Brewis received an Attitude Pride Award in 2019.
