Hannah Hart

Hannah Maud Hart, born November 2, 1986, is an American Internet personality, comedian, author, cook, and actress. She gained widespread recognition as the creator and star of the YouTube weekly series My Drunk Kitchen, which ran from 2011 until November 2021. Alongside her main channel, Hart operates a secondary channel featuring vlogs and commentary, and she later began streaming on Twitch under the handle "thishartomine."

Hart was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Following her parents' separation during her infancy, she and her sister were brought up by their mother, who experienced psychosis. Hart attended the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in May 2009 with degrees in English literature and Japanese linguistics. She subsequently lived in San Francisco with her friend Hannah Gelb—with whom she would later co-host the podcast Hannalyze This—before relocating to Brooklyn, New York. Though aiming to write screenplays, she initially worked proofreading Japanese and English at a Manhattan translation firm. Two months after starting her YouTube channel, she left her office job to pursue her video series full-time.

My Drunk Kitchen originated in March 2011 when Hart recorded a webcam video at her sister's house attempting to prepare a cheese-free grilled cheese sandwich while drinking wine. After uploading the video to YouTube, strong viewer interest led her to turn it into an ongoing series, retroactively titling the debut episode "Butter Yo Shit." By July 2011, the show had accumulated 800,000 views. Over its run, the series hosted high-profile guests including Jamie Oliver, Mary-Louise Parker, Chris Hardwick, Tyler Oakley, Lance Bass, John Green, and Sarah Silverman. Hart won a Streamy Award for Best Female Performance in a Comedy in 2013 and co-hosted the 4th Streamy Awards in 2014, where her show won for best comedy. By June 2015, her main channel surpassed 2.3 million subscribers and 206 million total views.

In 2013, Hart launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for a global tour titled Hello Harto, raising over $220,000 against an initial $50,000 goal. The multi-city tour combined vlogs, travel features, and cooking segments filmed in local hosts' homes, later expanding to include sponsored trips to Australia and New Zealand. That same year, Hart joined fellow creators Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart to launch #NoFilterShow, a live comedy act that toured across the United States and internationally to cities such as London and Dublin.

Hart expanded into film and television work through partnerships with Helbig and Mamrie Hart. The trio executive produced and starred in the 2014 independent comedy film Camp Takota, followed by the 2016 Lionsgate party comedy Dirty 30. Hart's screen credits also include voice work as Temp bot in the animated digital series Bee and PuppyCat, co-starring in a reboot of Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, appearing as a guest judge on Food Network Star, hosting her own six-episode Food Network series I Hart Food in 2017, and hosting A Decent Proposal for the Ellen Digital Network in 2019. She also hosted the BuzzFeed Tasty web series Edible History starting in October 2019.

In August 2014, Hart published her parody cookbook and self-help guide, My Drunk Kitchen: A Guide to Eating, Drinking, and Going with Your Gut, featuring a foreword by author John Green. The title spent five weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. In October 2016, she published her memoir Buffering: Unshared Tales of a Life Fully Loaded, which reached number four on The New York Times hardcover bestseller list. For her literary achievements, Hart was named a recipient of the Alex Awards in 2017.
