Grant Holloway

Stanley Grant Holloway was born on November 19, 1997, in Chesapeake, Virginia. He is an American professional hurdler and sprinter best known for winning the gold medal in the 110 meters hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympics and earning silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Holloway is a three-time world outdoor champion in the 110 meters hurdles, taking gold in 2019, 2022, and 2023. He is also the world indoor record holder in the 60 meters hurdles with a time of 7.27 seconds. As of December 2025, he has remained undefeated in indoor sprint hurdles since March 2014.

Holloway was raised by his parents, Latasha and Stan Holloway, and was coached alongside his older brother Trey by their father in the Track 757 club. At Grassfield High School, he competed in track and field and played wide receiver on the football team. He finished his high school career with sixteen state titles and three indoor national championships before choosing to run track at the University of Florida over playing collegiate football for Georgia.

At Florida, Holloway displayed strong versatility across hurdle events, short and long sprints, relays, and the long jump, helping Florida win three NCAA team titles. He won three consecutive NCAA indoor 60 meters hurdles titles from 2017 through 2019. In 2019, he set a collegiate and American indoor record of 7.35 seconds in the 60 meters hurdles, broke Renaldo Nehemiah's 40-year-old NCAA 110 meters hurdles record in 12.98 seconds, and captured his first world title in Doha.

In February 2021, Holloway broke the 60 meters hurdles world record with a 7.29-second run in Madrid. Later that year, he ran a personal best of 12.81 seconds at the U.S. Olympic trials, making him the third-fastest man in history in the 110 meters hurdles, before taking silver at the Tokyo Olympics.

Over subsequent seasons, Holloway continued his dominance on the global stage. He won world indoor titles in Belgrade in 2022 and Glasgow in 2024, alongside outdoor world titles in Eugene in 2022 and Budapest in 2023. In early 2024, he lowered his 60 meters hurdles world record to 7.27 seconds at the U.S. Indoor Championships. He then claimed the 110 meters hurdles gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in 12.99 seconds, followed by another world indoor title in Nanjing in 2025.

Holloway's accolades include winning The Bowerman in 2019, being named USTFCCCA Men's Indoor and Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, and receiving the Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year award in 2024.
