Elisabeth Hasselbeck

Elisabeth Hasselbeck (née Filarski) is an American television personality and talk show host born on May 28, 1977. She first rose to public prominence in 2001 as a contestant on the reality competition show Survivor: The Australian Outback, where she placed fourth. She later became widely recognized for her television hosting career, notably serving as a co-host on the ABC daytime talk show The View and the Fox News morning show Fox & Friends.

Hasselbeck was raised in Cranston, Rhode Island, the daughter of Kenneth Filarski, an architect, and Elizabeth DelPadre, a teacher and lawyer. She attended St. Mary Academy in East Providence, graduating in 1995. She then studied at Boston College, where she captained the women's softball team for two seasons, winning consecutive Big East championships. She graduated with a BFA in 1999 with concentrations in large scale paintings and industrial design. Prior to her television work, she worked as a designer for Puma shoes.

In 2000, Hasselbeck participated in Survivor: The Australian Outback as a member of the Kucha tribe, forming a notable alliance with fellow contestant Rodger Bingham and ultimately reaching day 39 to place fourth. She declined an offer to return for Survivor: All-Stars. Following her appearance, she judged the Miss Teen USA 2001 pageant and hosted the Style Network series The Look for Less from 2002 to 2003.

Hasselbeck joined ABC's The View as a permanent co-host in November 2003 following a series of guest-hosting appearances to replace outgoing host Lisa Ling. On the program, Hasselbeck typically represented a conservative viewpoint on sociopolitical topics, leading to high-profile debates over issues such as emergency contraception in 2006 and the Iraq War with co-host Rosie O'Donnell in 2007. In 2009, Hasselbeck and her co-hosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Sherri Shepherd won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host. Hasselbeck departed the show in July 2013, though she later returned for several guest co-hosting appearances.

In September 2013, Hasselbeck joined Fox News as a co-host on Fox & Friends, replacing Gretchen Carlson. During her tenure, the show saw an increase in overall ratings and viewership. She announced her retirement from the network in November 2015 to focus on her family, officially completing her final broadcast on December 22, 2015.

Hasselbeck married her college boyfriend, professional football quarterback Tim Hasselbeck, in 2002, and they have three children. Diagnosed with celiac disease, she authored the best-selling book The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide and launched NoGii, a line of gluten-free nutritional products, in 2011. A Republican, Hasselbeck spoke at the 2004 and 2008 Republican National Conventions and has supported breast cancer awareness initiatives.
