After starting his professional career on international runways, Darnell gained widespread public fame as a catwalk coach and talent judge on popular reality broadcasting shows in Germany, establishing himself as a prominent figure in fashion and entertainment.

Early Life and Modeling Career

Darnell was born on July 19, 1957, in Colorado, United States. Before entering the fashion industry, he studied sociology and served six years in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. In 1983, he relocated to Germany to launch his modeling career. Over the following decade, Darnell walked for top international luxury brands, including Hermès, Issey Miyake, Kenzo, and Calvin Klein, appearing on catwalks in Paris, Milan, Tokyo, and New York City. By 1990, he transitioned into runway coaching and choreography, training aspiring models for fashion presentations across Europe.

Television Fame and Media Work

Darnell achieved mainstream media prominence in 2006 when he joined the jury of ProSieben's Germany's Next Topmodel as a catwalk trainer. His enthusiastic personality and distinct style quickly made him a household favorite among German television audiences. In 2008, he hosted his self-titled fashion makeover show Bruce on Das Erste and subsequently joined the judging panel of RTL's talent competition Das Supertalent alongside producer Dieter Bohlen.
