Andreas Bourani

Andreas Bourani, born Stiegelmair on November 2, 1983, is a German pop singer and songwriter. He is widely recognized for his successful music career, including hit singles and television appearances in Germany.

Bourani was born to Egyptian parents and was adopted as an infant by a German family in Augsburg, located in the southwest of Bavaria. During his youth, he attended high school at St. Stephan, though he left before graduating. He also pursued musical studies at the private music school Downtown Music Institute. In 2008, he relocated from Munich to Berlin.

His professional music career took off in 2010 when he signed a recording contract with Universal Music. That same year, Bourani gained exposure by performing as an opening act for Philipp Poisel and Culcha Candela during their arena tours.

In June 2011, Bourani released his debut studio album, titled Staub & Fantasie. The album reached number 23 on the German Albums Chart and featured the hit single "Nur in meinem Kopf," which charted in the top 20 in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, eventually earning a gold certification in Germany for selling over 150,000 copies. Later that year, he represented Bavaria in the Bundesvision Song Contest with his single "Eisberg," placing tenth overall. Following this, he toured alongside Unheilig and was featured on their charting track "Wie wir waren."

Bourani's recognition continued to grow, leading to a nomination for the German Music Authors' Prize in the Best Pop Text category in April 2013. He released his second studio album, Hey, in May 2014. The album featured the single "Auf uns," which reached the top spot on both the German and Austrian Singles Charts. The track was notably included in the trailer for Die Mannschaft, a documentary film about the Germany National Football Team's victory at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

In May 2015, Bourani joined artists such as Xavier Naidoo and Yvonne Catterfeld in the second season of Sing meinen Song - Das Tauschkonzert, the German adaptation of The Best Singers. That same month, he was announced as a judge for the fifth season of The Voice of Germany, replacing Sunrise Avenue lead singer Samu Haber. Outside of television and music releases, Bourani provided the official voice for the character Maui in the German dub of the animated film Moana.
