Albrecht Schuch

Albrecht Abraham Schuch is a German actor born on 21 August 1985. He is widely recognized for his acclaimed performances in film and television, earning several prestigious honors throughout his career, including four German Film Awards, a Bavarian Film Award, and a German Television Award. He also received international recognition with a nomination for a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

Schuch was born in Jena, East Germany. He is the younger brother of actress Karoline Schuch. To pursue a career in performing arts, he studied acting at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig from 2006 until 2010.

Schuch made his professional film debut in Westwind, directed by Robert Thalheim. In 2012, he achieved a major career milestone by starring in his first leading film role as Alexander von Humboldt in Detlev Buck's Measuring the World, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Daniel Kehlmann.

Over the course of his career, Schuch gained historic distinction in German cinema. He is the only male actor to win German Film Awards in two separate categories—lead and supporting actor—during the same award ceremony. He achieved this in 2020 for his work in the feature films System Crasher and Berlin Alexanderplatz.

Schuch continued to receive critical acclaim for his prominent film roles. Two years after his dual victory, he won the German Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Dear Thomas. In 2023, he received another German Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2022 film All Quiet on the Western Front, which also earned him his BAFTA Award nomination.
