Yvie Oddly

Jovan Jordan Bridges, known professionally as Yvie Oddly, is an American drag queen, performer, rapper, fashion designer, and recording artist from Denver, Colorado. Bridges is best known for winning the eleventh season of RuPaul's Drag Race in 2019. Developed to be "even odder than anybody else," the Yvie Oddly persona focuses on conceptual art, originality, and unconventional visuals created from thrifted or inexpensive materials, drawing inspiration from designers such as Alexander McQueen and Thierry Mugler as well as performers Sharon Needles and Christeene.

Born on August 22, 1993, in Denver, Colorado, Bridges is the grandchild of Denver Black Panther leader Lauren Watson. Bridges initially took part in gymnastics and strenuous activities before being diagnosed at age fifteen with hypermobile Ehlers–Danlos syndrome, a physical condition that causes joint instability and chronic pain. Bridges subsequently shifted focus to musical theatre and attended East High School followed by college at the Auraria Campus. After an initial Halloween costume in middle school, Bridges officially began doing drag in college in 2012 following a campus workshop hosted by Venus D'lite.

Bridges built an early career in Denver's local drag scene, adopting the initial stage name Avon Eve before becoming Yvie Oddly. After winning the Ultimate Queen of Denver pageant in 2015, Bridges joined the cast of Drag Nation, opened for pop singer Mya at Denver PrideFest, and managed a local drag bar. In 2019, after applying three times, Bridges entered the eleventh season of RuPaul's Drag Race. During the competition, Bridges won one main challenge, placed in the top for six consecutive weeks, and gained acclaim for a bottom-two lip-sync performance to Demi Lovato's "Sorry Not Sorry." Bridges ultimately won the season finale after lip-sync battles against A'keria C. Davenport and Brooke Lynn Hytes.

Following the Drag Race victory, Bridges joined the international Werq the World concert tour and joined the cast of RuPaul's Drag Race Live! in Las Vegas. Bridges also appeared as a guest "Lip Sync Assassin" on All Stars season five in 2020 and returned to compete in the all-winners seventh season of Drag Race All Stars in 2022. World of Wonder announced a series titled Yvie Oddly's Oddities on WOW Presents Plus, focusing on transforming thrifted finds into fashion.

In her musical career, Bridges released early singles such as "Weirdo" and "Dolla Store" in 2019 before releasing a debut studio album, Drag Trap, through Voss Events in 2020. Bridges directed several music videos, including "Drag Trap" and "Watermelon Bubblegum," and contributed to franchise cast recordings such as "Queens Everywhere" and "Legends." In June 2024, Bridges published a co-written memoir, All About Yvie: Into The Oddity, with Michael Bach, which became a USA Today Best Seller.

Bridges is genderqueer, uses she/he/they pronouns, and married Doug Illsley in July 2023. Bridges is also the drag sister of RuPaul's Drag Race season fourteen winner Willow Pill. Because of hypermobile Ehlers–Danlos syndrome, Bridges has adapted live performances and post-show fan interactions to manage chronic pain and physical exertion.
