Valerie Domínguez

Valerie Domínguez Tarud is a Colombian model, television personality, actress, and designer who gained national prominence through her background in beauty pageants. She represented her country on an international level before establishing a career across television, film, and jewelry design.

Born on January 12, 1981, Domínguez is of Syrian and Lebanese heritage. She is a first cousin of the international recording artist Shakira. Prior to her career in entertainment, she pursued higher education in Milan, Italy, where she studied fashion design.

Domínguez first gained major public recognition through pageantry when she competed in and won the Miss Colombia 2005 competition. Following her national victory, she was chosen to represent Colombia at the Miss Universe 2006 pageant held in Los Angeles, ultimately finishing among the Top 10 contestants.

After her pageant success, she transitioned into acting, making her television debut as Marianne Sajir in the RCN Television production Hasta que la plata nos separe. She further developed her screen portfolio by taking on a co-starring role as part of the ensemble cast in the RCN drama series El Último Matrimonio Feliz.

In addition to her television work, Domínguez expanded into cinema, playing the character Manuela in the film Esto huele mal, directed by Jorge Alí Triana. Her film career also includes roles in productions such as Do You Believe? in 2015 and Beyond Brotherhood in 2017.

Her television acting continued with a leading role as Cristina in the Sony cable series Los caballeros las prefieren brutas, an adaptation of Isabella Santo Domingo's book of the same title. She subsequently landed a starring role in the FOX RCN Telecolombia television drama Un sueño llamado salsa.

Alongside her work in media and acting, Domínguez operates a professional business as a jewelry designer. She established her own jewelry store showcasing her creations in Barranquilla, with plans to expand her retail presence by opening a location in Bogotá.
