About Tasha Ghouri
Natasha Amber Ghouri is a British model, dancer, television personality, and author. Born on August 11, 1998, in Thirsk, she and her brother are of South Asian descent. Born deaf, Ghouri initially relied on British Sign Language and hearing aids before receiving a cochlear implant at Bradford Royal Infirmary shortly before turning five, after which she underwent speech therapy. She began taking ballet lessons at three years old and later attended Thirsk Primary School, CAPA College, and the Creative Academy in Slough, where she trained in commercial streetstyle. Following her studies, she moved to London to pursue modelling and commercial dancing.
Early in her career, Ghouri appeared in the 2020 music video for "More Than Words" by Sleepwalkrs featuring MNEK, performing alongside a troupe of deaf and hard-of-hearing dancers. She gained wider public attention in April 2021 after modelling earrings for an ASOS campaign that prominently featured her cochlear implant, earning praise from deaf charity organizations. In 2022, she joined the eighth series of the reality dating show Love Island as its first deaf participant. She reached the final alongside partner Andrew Le Page, finishing in joint-fourth place after 58 days on the programme.
Following her television debut, Ghouri leveraged her public platform to raise awareness about sign language and disability advocacy. In August 2022, she became the inaugural pre-loved ambassador for eBay, releasing a collection to support the Royal National Institute for Deaf People. She also took on ambassadorial roles for brands such as Cadbury Fingers, L'Oréal, Ann Summers, Sisters & Seekers, and Lullabellz. In addition, she created and hosted the podcast Superpowers with Tasha, which explores disability perspectives.
Ghouri expanded into publishing by co-authoring the 2024 young adult romantic novel Hits Different with Lizzie Huxley-Jones, which focuses on a deaf aspiring dancer, followed later by her book Your Superpower. Early in 2024, she served as a Dictionary Corner guest on the game show Countdown and attracted significant online attention after sharing a viral TikTok video discussing her deaf accent and demonstrating her cochlear implant removal.
In late 2024, Ghouri participated in the twenty-second series of Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec. As the show's second deaf contestant, she achieved the series' first perfect score and ultimately finished as a joint runner-up before joining the 2025 Strictly Come Dancing Live! tour and taking on a reporting role for Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two. Her subsequent media appearances include reality and game shows such as Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, The Weakest Link, Would I Lie to You?, and Pilgrimage, alongside launching a product line with Next in 2026.
