Stella Maxwell

Stella Maynes Maxwell is a model who holds both British and Irish citizenship. She is widely recognized for her work with the lingerie brand Victoria's Secret, having served as one of its official Angels, as well as being the public face of the cosmetics brand Max Factor.

Born in Brussels, Belgium, on May 15, 1990, Maxwell was raised by Northern Irish parents from Belfast. Her father worked as a diplomat and previously headed the European Commission office in Belfast. She spent her early years in Brussels attending the European School, Woluwe, before relocating with her family to Canberra, Australia, at age 13. A year later, her family moved to Wellington, New Zealand. She continued her education at Queen Margaret College and later attended the University of Otago. While working at a newsstand during her university years, she was discovered by a modeling agency located in Dunedin, beginning her modeling career after completing her degree.

Maxwell made a prominent appearance at the 2014 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and officially achieved Angel status with the brand in 2015. Over the course of her career, she has appeared in campaigns and photo shoots for major fashion labels including Alexander McQueen, Asos, H&M, Karl Lagerfeld, Roberto Cavalli, Urban Outfitters, and Topshop. Additionally, she has been featured on the front covers of international editions of Vogue magazine, including its German, Spanish, Thai, Japanese, and Turkish releases.

As a runway model, Maxwell has walked for numerous high-profile designers and fashion houses, such as Chanel, Versace, Fendi, Moschino, Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Miu Miu, Mugler, Dolce & Gabbana, Jacquemus, Tory Burch, Dsquared2, Giles, Brandon Maxwell, Jeremy Scott, and 032c. Notably, she opened the Concept Korea Spring/Summer 2011 fashion show wearing a modern Snow White-inspired outfit featuring a miniskirt and high shoes. In addition to runway work, she partnered with the French fashion label The Kooples to design a self-named handbag line.

Outside of fashion editorials and runways, Maxwell topped Maxim's Hot 100 List in 2016. She made an uncredited appearance in the 2018 feature film JT LeRoy and was featured in the 2021 music video for the song Chemical by Beck. In 2020, she took on a public advocacy role by becoming an ambassador for Pride Live's Stonewall Day activities. After a seven-year absence, she returned to participate in the 2025 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

Maxwell speaks English and French fluently. She is openly queer and identifies as sexually fluid.
