Sasha Luss

Aleksandra "Sasha" Alexeyevna Luss is a Russian fashion model and actress. She gained widespread recognition in the entertainment industry after playing the lead character in the 2019 action thriller feature film Anna.

Born in Magadan, Russia, Luss later relocated to Moscow during her youth. In her childhood, she focused on writing and ballet rather than modeling. After an ankle injury prevented her from pursuing ballet further, her mother brought her to a modeling agency at age thirteen, where she signed her first contract despite her grandmother's disapproval.

Luss initially joined DNA Model Management, walking for labels like Antonio Marras and DKNY before returning to Russia to finish her schooling. She subsequently signed with Elite Model Management in Paris, Women Management in Milan, and Avant Models. Her major breakthrough occurred in 2011 when Karl Lagerfeld noticed her in a promotional campaign for Bohemique, leading to her casting in Chanel fashion shows. The following season, she secured an exclusive runway appearance for Dior.

Her career expanded rapidly during the Autumn/Winter 2013 season as she walked in 58 shows for prominent fashion houses, including Prada, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, and Valentino. Recognized by models.com as a top newcomer, she subsequently appeared in advertising campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger, Max Mara, Carolina Herrera, and Valentino. A decision to dye her hair platinum blonde further elevated her demand, leading to 53 runway appearances for the Spring/Summer 2014 season. Glamour Russia named her Model of the Year in 2013.

Luss later became the face of Dior Beauty and featured in campaigns for Lanvin, Chanel, and Versace Jeans, as well as the 2015 Pirelli Calendar photographed by Steven Meisel. She eventually transitioned into acting, debuting as Princess Lihö-Minaa in the 2017 film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. She followed this with her starring role as an undercover Russian agent in Anna.

In her subsequent acting work, Luss co-starred in the 2023 action-adventure movie Sheroes. In 2024, her projects included roles in the action feature The Last Front and the science fiction thriller Latency, alongside an appearance as Tovia in the film Depravity.
