Ronald Zehrfeld

Ronald Zehrfeld is a German actor who was born on 15 January 1977. He is known for his work in both television and feature films, including prominent roles in movies such as Barbara (2012), Inbetween Worlds (2014), and Phoenix (2014).

Zehrfeld made his feature film debut in 2005, playing a lead role in the Dominik Graf film The Red Cockatoo. Following his debut, he starred as the pirate Klaus Störtebeker in the comedic pirate movie 12 Paces Without a Head, directed by Sven Taddicken.

In 2010, Zehrfeld played an idealistic Berlin police detective in Dominik Graf's critically acclaimed ten-part television series Im Angesicht des Verbrechens. He collaborated with Graf again in 2011, appearing as a murderous villain in the crime drama Cassandra's Warning from the series Polizeiruf 110, as well as in the television crime drama The Invisible Girl. That same year, he took on a supporting role in Matthias Glasner's television mystery thriller The Hour of the Wolf.

Zehrfeld starred in Christian Petzold's 2012 drama Barbara, a film that earned the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival and was selected as the German entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards.

During 2014, Zehrfeld appeared in several film projects. He portrayed Wilhelm von Wolzogen in Dominik Graf's historical film Beloved Sisters, which served as Germany's entry for the 87th Academy Awards. He also played a German soldier experiencing a crisis of conscience in Afghanistan in the war drama Inbetween Worlds, appeared in the children's film The Pasta Detectives, and starred alongside Nina Hoss in Christian Petzold's critically acclaimed postwar drama Phoenix.

For his performance in Lars Kraume's historical thriller film The People vs. Fritz Bauer, Zehrfeld won the German Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2016.
