Rande Gerber

Rande Gerber is an American businessman best known for his ventures in the nightlife, beverage, and hospitality industries. He is a co-founder of the tequila brand Casamigos, alongside actor George Clooney and businessman Mike Meldman. Over the course of his career, Gerber has established several companies, including the Gerber Group, Midnight Oil, and Caliche Rum, building a portfolio that encompasses restaurants, bars, and lounges around the world.

Gerber was born on April 27, 1962, to Jordan Gerber and Ellen Peckman, and is of Algerian-Jewish descent. Raised in Hewlett, New York, he graduated from Hewlett High School in 1980. He later attended the University of Arizona, where he earned a bachelor's degree in marketing.

Gerber began his entrepreneurship in the nightlife sector in 1991 when the Gerber Group opened its first venue, a bar called The Whiskey, located inside the Paramount Hotel in New York City's theater district. His hospitality footprint expanded through various worldwide lounge and restaurant concepts over subsequent decades.

In 2013, Gerber partnered with George Clooney to launch Casamigos Tequila. The brand grew rapidly and was sold to beverage company Diageo in June 2017 for $700 million, with the potential for an additional $300 million based on performance over the following decade. Gerber continued to develop the brand, including the April 2024 launch of Casamigas Jalapeño Tequila, a spicy product line extension featuring his wife on the label.

In addition to his beverage ventures, Gerber joined with partners Michael Meldman, Jeff Shell, and Jay Sures in January 2019 to purchase the Beverly Hills deli Nate 'n Al in order to keep it open. In July 2025, Gerber partnered with the luxury suncare brand Hampton Sun to advise on its 2025 rebranding and product launch after discovering the line while on vacation in Miami. By October 2025, reports indicated that Gerber, Meldman, and Clooney were developing a non-alcoholic beer brand named Crazy Mountain, targeted for release in 2026.

In his personal life, Gerber married model Cindy Crawford on May 29, 1998. The couple has two children, Presley Walker, born in 1999, and Kaia Jordan, born in 2001, both of whom pursued modeling careers. In August 2021, Gerber and Crawford sold their residential property in Trousdale Estates, Beverly Hills, for a reported $13.5 million.
