Oh Land

Nanna Øland Fabricius, known professionally as Oh Land, is a Danish musician, singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress. Born on May 2, 1985, in Copenhagen, she is the daughter of organist Bendt Fabricius and opera singer Bodil Øland, as well as a descendant of ethnographer Otto Fabricius. She initially trained as a ballet dancer at the Royal Danish and Royal Swedish Ballet schools. After a spinal fracture and slipped disc ended her dancing career, she turned her focus to writing and producing music.

Oh Land launched her recording career with her debut album, Fauna, released in Denmark in November 2008. Her self-titled second album followed in March 2011, reaching number five on the Danish Albums Chart and serving as her U.S. debut on Epic Records. In 2011, she won the Brink of Fame: Music Artist award at the NewNowNext Awards, made her U.S. television debut on Late Show with David Letterman performing "Sun of a Gun," and opened on tours for acts including Sia, Katy Perry, and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.

In addition to her music releases, Oh Land expanded into acting and television compositions. She played Sara in the 2007 Danish film Hvid nat, and her single "Speak Out Now" became the theme song for the television series Rita in 2012. She released her third studio album, Wish Bone, in September 2013, preceded by the single "Renaissance Girls." She later co-starred in the 2014 western film The Salvation. In late 2014, she released her fourth album, Earth Sick, recorded in her Brooklyn apartment and promoted while serving as a coach on Denmark's Voice Junior.

Beginning in 2015, Oh Land composed music for several theatrical and art projects. She created the score for a production of Cinderella at Tivoli Pantomime Theatre, releasing the soundtrack album Askepot in 2016. She collaborated with visual artist Eske Kath on the 2017 interactive art exhibition "SKIBET," releasing its soundtrack Watermusic in 2018. Her additional projects included recording the theme for the Netflix series The Rain, serving as an ambassador for WWF's Wild Schoolprojekt, becoming a judge on Denmark's X Factor in 2019, and releasing the album Family Tree. She also composed music for a stage adaptation of The Snow Queen.

In 2020, Oh Land featured on Tricky's album Fall to Pieces. Her later work included performing in the opera Manualen & De syv dødssynder in 2022, releasing her Danish-language EP Xtra in late 2022, announcing the album Loop Soup for 2023, and composing music for a ballet adaptation of Julefeber. Critics have characterized her musical style as a combination of catchy and experimental pop featuring a wide vocal range.

Oh Land lived in New York City from 2010 until returning to Denmark in 2016. She married Eske Kath in 2013, with whom she had her first son in 2016 prior to their separation in 2018. She later had two children with her partner Adi Zukanović, born in 2020 and 2025.
