Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen

Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen is a Danish actor born on 13 July 2000 in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is best known for his roles in the Netflix television series The Rain and Borgen – Power & Glory, as well as the multilingual mystery series 1899.

Tønnesen grew up in Copenhagen alongside a younger sister who works as an acrobat. At nine years old, he enrolled in a local singing school and joined a choir that travelled internationally. His acting path began in the summer of 2012 after his father submitted a recording of his singing to an audition, landing him the lead role in the theatre production Cirkus Summarum. This experience inspired his interest in pursuing an acting career.

He made his film debut in the Danish comedy Player, followed by an appearance in the film The Keeper of Lost Causes. In 2014, Tønnesen transitioned to television with a regular role in the Danish series Tidsrejsen. He subsequently starred as Oliver in the 2015 short film I Stykker.

At sixteen years old, Tønnesen secured the role of Rasmus Andersen in Netflix's first Danish original series, The Rain, which premiered in 2018 and ran for three seasons through 2020. During the following years, he appeared in several short films. In 2022, he portrayed Magnus Nyborg Christensen in a recurring role in the Netflix co-production Borgen – Power & Glory. Later that year, he starred in the multilingual Netflix mystery-horror series 1899, created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese.

In addition to his acting work, Tønnesen expanded into fashion in 2020 when he served as an ambassador for Emporio Armani during the EA Building Dialogues Fashion Show in Milan, where he met designer Giorgio Armani.
