Natalia Fedner

Natalia Fedner is an American fashion designer, inventor, artist, and actress who is best known for inventing a patented six-way stretch metal textile. She operates an eponymous couture label launched in Los Angeles in 2014, and her work has been featured in high-profile entertainment projects, retail displays, and celebrity attire.

Fedner was born in Chernivtsi, in the Ukrainian SSR, and immigrated to Columbus, Ohio, as a refugee at six years old alongside her parents. From third through twelfth grade, she attended art classes at the Columbus College of Art and Design on a merit-based scholarship. After graduating from Bexley High School, she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design in New York City and Paris. During her studies, she received the Fusion Award in the Fusion Fashion competition, won the Silver Thimble Award studying under Tim Gunn, and had her work selected for the Saks Fifth Avenue Holiday Window Display.

Early in her career, Fedner interned for Donna Karan and Marc Jacobs before working as a design assistant at Calvin Klein Women's Collection under Francisco Costa. In 2014, she appeared as a contestant on the television series Project Runway: Under the Gunn, finishing in sixth place. She also served as a costume designer for the second season of the web series Epic Rap Battles of History. That same year, she launched her self-named couture brand in Los Angeles, which gained public visibility after Jennifer Lopez wore a couture knit gown in a music video and spoke about the new label.

Over the following years, Fedner's designs were worn by a wide range of prominent figures across music and film. In 2016, she created a custom metal dress worn by Beyoncé in the project Lemonade, and in 2020, she partnered with stylist Zerina Akers to create a gold chain headpiece for Beyoncé's visual album Black is King. Her label was accepted into Bergdorf Goodman in 2018, leading to features in the store's display windows. By August 2022, she was confirmed to be designing pieces for Beyoncé's album Renaissance, and she later created designs for Shakira's music videos, festival performances, and world tour.

Fedner held her first solo fashion show in July 2021 at Miami Swim Week, presenting her Spring/Summer 2022 collection. In August 2021, she received the patent for her six-way stretch metal textile, drawing national fashion media attention. Her professional achievements include the Bexley High School Emerging Leader Alumni Award in 2021 and the FGI Rising Star Eveningwear Award in April 2025. In addition to her design career, Fedner has engaged in advocacy and fundraising, organizing events and coordinating with non-governmental organizations to assist Ukrainian refugees and raise money for medical supplies.
