Molly Yeh

Molly Yeh is an American cookbook author, television personality, restaurateur, and blogger. She is best known as the host of the Food Network cooking series Girl Meets Farm. Originally trained as a percussionist, she transitioned into food media after documenting her life and recipes on her personal blog, which eventually led to published cookbooks, television hosting roles, and a restaurant venture.

Yeh was born on May 22, 1989, and raised in Glenview, Illinois. She is the daughter of Jody and John Bruce Yeh, a clarinetist, and comes from a mixed background of Jewish and Chinese heritage. During her youth, she attended Glenbrook South High School and the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory. As a member of two percussion ensembles, The Rattan Trio and Beat 3, she won consecutive gold medals in 2004 and 2005 in the junior division of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. She also maintained journals from an early age, which formed the foundation of her blog launched in 2009.

Following high school, Yeh moved to New York City to study percussion at the Juilliard School, where she also worked as an editorial assistant and writer for The Juilliard Journal. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 2011. In 2013, Yeh moved to a family farm outside East Grand Forks, Minnesota, near the North Dakota border, with her future husband, Nick Hagen. On the farm, she focused more heavily on her food blog, combining personal stories with artistic food photography.

Yeh's blog gained widespread popularity on Pinterest, leading to her being named Food Blogger of the Year by Saveur in 2015. In October 2016, she published her debut book, Molly on the Range: Recipes and Stories from An Unlikely Life on a Farm, which earned the Judges' Choice IACP Cookbook Award in 2017. The book integrated autobiographical reflections alongside her recipes and photography.

Her television host career began on June 24, 2018, with the premiere of Girl Meets Farm on the Food Network. Recorded at her farm, the show highlights Midwestern cuisine alongside elements inspired by her Chinese and Jewish heritage, reaching 15 seasons as of June 2025. Yeh also guest co-hosted the classical music podcast From the Top in November 2018, having previously appeared on it as a teenage performer. She later hosted the Food Network competition shows Ben and Jerry's Clash of the Cones in 2021 and the eighth season of Spring Baking Championship in 2022.

In 2022, Yeh opened Bernie's, a café restaurant located in East Grand Forks specializing in Midwestern dishes influenced by Scandinavian and Jewish traditions. She expanded her bibliography in 2025 with the desserts-only cookbook Sweet Farm!, featuring recipes that blend her Chinese, Jewish, and Midwestern roots. Yeh married Nick Hagen in 2014, and the couple has two daughters, born in 2019 and 2022.
