Anne Burrell

Anne Burrell (1969–2025) was an American chef, television personality, and culinary instructor. She was best known for hosting and co-hosting several programs on the Food Network, including Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell, and the long-running culinary boot camp competition series Worst Cooks in America. Recognized for her vibrant personality and distinctive blonde spiky hair, she also appeared regularly as a judge and competitor on shows like Iron Chef America, Chopped, and The Best Thing I Ever Ate.

Born in Cazenovia, New York, Burrell earned a degree in English and Communications from Canisius College before pursuing her passion for cooking at the Culinary Institute of America. She furthered her training in Italy, focusing on rustic Italian cuisine. Upon returning to the United States, she worked at notable New York City establishments such as Felidia and Savoy, and later taught as an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. Her work as a sous chef on Iron Chef America helped launch her national television profile.

In addition to her television work, Burrell authored cookbooks including Cook Like a Rock Star (2011) and Own Your Kitchen (2013). She remained a prominent figure in food media and cooking competitions for over two decades until her death in June 2025.
