Andrew Zimmern

Andrew Scott Zimmern is an American chef, television personality, author, and restaurateur. He is best known as the creator, co-executive producer, and host of the Travel Channel television franchise Bizarre Foods. Born and raised in New York City, he attended Vassar College before training in fine-dining kitchens across Manhattan. After relocating to Minnesota and establishing his sobriety in the early 1990s, he served as executive chef at Café Un Deux Trois in Minneapolis, which launched his career as a regional culinary media personality.

Zimmern gained international prominence following the 2006 premiere of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, a travel and food program exploring regional cuisines and cultural traditions worldwide. Over his career, he has created and hosted numerous television programs, including Bizarre Foods America, The Zimmern List, What's Eating America, Family Dinner, and Wild Game Kitchen. He has also made frequent guest and judging appearances on culinary television programs across networks such as Food Network, Netflix, and HBO Max.

Beyond television hosting, Zimmern is an active producer, entrepreneur, and author. He founded the production enterprise Intuitive Content and the hospitality development firm Passport Hospitality. He has authored several books on food and travel, including works for both adults and children. Over the course of his career, he has received multiple James Beard Foundation Awards, including honors for outstanding television personality and host, as well as a Daytime Emmy Award.

Zimmern resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He actively serves on advisory boards and as a goodwill ambassador for various international food security and hunger relief organizations, including the United Nations World Food Programme and City Harvest. He also continues to host and produce digital and broadcast culinary programming.
