Perez began her professional wrestling training in 2000 at Jesse Hernandez's School of Hard Knocks in San Bernardino, California, making her official in-ring debut in November 2001. In late 2002, she auditioned for WWE's reality series Tough Enough III, advancing to the final twenty-one contestants before being cut in the first episode. Encouraged by trainer Al Snow to continue wrestling, she eventually signed a WWE contract in March 2004 and was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). There, she managed Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury, collectively known as MNM, helping guide them to the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship while developing her trademark split ring entrance.

Perez made her official WWE main roster debut on SmackDown in April 2005 as the manager of MNM. Under her guidance, the duo captured the WWE Tag Team Championship three times, and she later managed Nitro during two reigns as WWE Intercontinental Champion. Perez made her WWE in-ring debut in June 2005, expanding her role to full-time wrestling competition. Over the following years, she engaged in major feuds with competitors such as Mickie James, Trish Stratus, Candice Michelle, and Beth Phoenix.

During her career with WWE, Perez became a three-time WWE Women's Champion and a two-time WWE Divas Champion. Upon winning her second Divas Championship, she became the first woman in WWE history to achieve multiple title reigns with both the Women's and Divas belts. Recognized for her exceptional flexibility and distinctive offensive maneuvers, she was praised by hall-of-famer Bret Hart as one of the top wrestlers in the world. Following her departure from WWE in 2011, Perez continued her wrestling career across various promotions, most recently competing for the NWA.
