She attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she studied journalism and food science, graduating in 2003.
Lee began her career in the food industry working in restaurants and co-founding culinary media outlets, including the early food website Olive and Peach. In 2006, she hosted the inaugural season of the Bravo reality competition series Top Chef. She later appeared as a judge and contributor across various television programs, including Iron Chef America and Beat Bobby Flay, and hosted Beach Bites with Katie Lee on the Cooking Channel.
She is best known as a longtime co-host of the Food Network talk show The Kitchen, which premiered in 2014. In addition to her broadcast television work, Lee has authored cookbooks including The Comfort Table, The Comfort Table: Recipes for Everyday Occasions, Endless Summer Cookbook, and It's Not Complicated.
