Karen Lorre

Karen R. Lorre, originally born Karen Witter on December 13, 1961, in Long Beach, California, is an American actress, model, and author. She initially pursued higher education as a pre-med psycho-physiology major at the University of California, Irvine, where she studied the biochemical origins of mental illness. To help fund her university tuition, she began working as a model and appearing in television commercials.

Lorre gained early attention through her modeling career with Playboy magazine. She was selected as the Playmate of the Month for the March 1982 issue, featuring a centerfold photographed by Arny Freytag. She later appeared on the cover of the March 1983 issue alongside fellow Playmates Kimberly McArthur and Kelly Tough, and was featured again in the December 1991 issue.

Following her modeling work, Lorre transitioned into acting, primarily appearing on television. Her early television credits included roles on series such as Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer in 1984, the syndicated version of Sale of the Century from 1985 to 1986, Cheers in 1988, and the film The Vineyard in 1989. Over the following decade, she landed guest appearances on notable shows including The X-Files, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys as Nemesis in 1995, Sliders in 1996, Sabrina the Teenage Witch in 1998, NYPD Blue in 2000, Dharma & Greg in 2000, and Malcolm in the Middle in 2001.

One of her most prominent roles came when she was cast as Tina Lord on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live, taking over a role previously played by Andrea Evans. Selected after an extensive search that involved over 300 candidates, her casting received praise from critics. Lorre portrayed the character until 1994, and her performance earned her a nomination for a Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Female Newcomer in Daytime in 1991.

In her personal life, she married television writer and producer Chuck Lorre in 2001, at which point she adopted the surname Lorre. After retiring from her acting career, she transitioned into working as a life coach and spiritual healer.

As an author, Lorre has published three books focused on spiritual healing. Her published works include Chronic Pleasure: Use the Law of Attraction to Transform Fatigue and Pain into Vibrant Energy (2018), Effortless Enchantment: A Memoir of Magic, Magnetism, and Miracles (2020), and Chronic Pleasure in Relationships (2021).
