After reconsidering her career path, she departed Blue Mountain and returned to Idaho, where she earned an associate degree in liberal arts from the College of Southern Idaho.

Wright began performing publicly at eight years old and entered beauty pageants in 2011 to become eligible for the Miss Idaho title. In July 2012, she won the Miss Magic Valley 2013 title. Competing at the 2013 Miss Idaho pageant with the platform "The W.O.R.T.H. At the 2014 Miss Idaho pageant, she advocated for "Operation Homefront," gave a vocal performance, and finished as first runner-up. This earned her an invitation to the National Sweetheart pageant in Hoopeston, Illinois, where she was crowned Miss National Sweetheart 2014 on August 31, 2014, becoming the first woman from Idaho to hold the title.

In July 2014, Wright was crowned Miss Magic Valley 2015, securing eligibility for the 2015 Miss Idaho pageant. Competing in June 2015 with a vocal rendition of Patty Griffin's "Up to the Mountain" and a platform supporting military families and wounded veterans, Wright won the state title on June 20, 2015. She also earned preliminary awards in talent and swimsuit, a marketing award, an honorable mention for the Miracle Maker Award, and over $10,000 in scholarship money and prizes. As Miss Idaho, she made public appearances across the state before competing at Miss America 2016 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September 2015. During the televised finale on September 13, 2015, she finished outside the Top 15, earning a $3,000 state scholarship and a $1,000 Non-Finalist Talent scholarship for her vocal and guitar performance.

Wright later transitioned to the Miss USA system, placing as first runner-up at the Miss Minnesota USA 2017 pageant in November 2016. On November 26, 2017, she won the Miss Minnesota USA 2018 title and advanced to compete at Miss USA 2018. Outside of pageantry, Wright has worked as an entrepreneur.
