About Jeremih

Jeremy Phillip Felton, known professionally as Jeremih, is an American R&B singer and songwriter. Born on July 17, 1987, in Chicago, he learned to play drums, saxophone, piano, and various percussion instruments at a young age. He earned academic honors at Morgan Park High School, where he participated in marching and Latin jazz bands, allowing him to graduate early. After initially studying engineering at the University of Illinois and Parkland College, he transferred to Columbia College Chicago in 2007 to pursue a degree in music business after realizing his vocal ability during a campus talent show.

Jeremih began his music career in 2008 after connecting with record producer Mick Schultz while at Columbia College Chicago. In February 2009, he signed a recording contract with Def Jam Recordings after auditioning for Russell Simmons and Karen Kwak. He released his debut single, "Birthday Sex," in 2009, which reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His self-titled debut studio album followed in June 2009, debuting at number six on the Billboard 200. That year, he promoted the project on the America's Most Wanted Tour.

In 2010, Jeremih released his second studio album, All About You, which featured the single "Down on Me" (featuring 50 Cent). The song reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100, topped the Rhythmic Billboard chart for eight weeks, and eventually earned a sextuple platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). He followed this with his 2012 mixtape Late Nights with Jeremih and the 2014 collaborative EP No More with Shlohmo.

Jeremih's third studio album, Late Nights: The Album, was released in December 2015 to critical acclaim. The record spawned major singles including "Don't Tell 'Em" (featuring YG), "Planez" (featuring J. Cole), and "Oui," each of which achieved quintuple platinum certifications from the RIAA. During this period, he also co-wrote the track "Woo" for Rihanna's album Anti and embarked on his Late Nights Uncut Tour. In 2016, he released the mixtape Late Nights: Europe.

In 2018, Jeremih formed the duo MihTy alongside singer Ty Dolla Sign, releasing an eponymous collaborative album supported by the lead single "The Light." Over his career, he has also released several EPs, including Cinco De MihYo (2017) and The Chocolate Box (2018), and appeared as a featured artist on tracks alongside performers such as Wale, DJ Khaled, and Bryce Vine.

After a hiatus from recording, Jeremih released the single "Changes" in 2022. He launched the label imprint Late Nightz Records in 2023, featuring his first protégé Murf Dilly. In February 2024, Jeremih parted ways with Def Jam Recordings after fifteen years with the label, subsequently releasing his first independent single, "Wait on It" featuring Bryson Tiller and Chris Brown, in June 2024.
