Harrison Armstrong

Harrison James Armstrong, known professionally as Aitch, is an English rapper and songwriter born on December 9, 1999, in Manchester, United Kingdom. Renowned for his charismatic flow, clever wordplay, and distinctive northern accent, he emerged in the late 2010s as one of the UK's most prominent contemporary hip-hop artists. His stage name derives from the British pronunciation of the letter "H," the initial of his birth name.

Early Life and Breakthrough

Growing up in New Moston, North Manchester, Armstrong discovered his passion for rapping during his school years, performing casually among friends. After leaving secondary school, he briefly studied in college and worked in construction alongside his grandfather. He first gained online attention in 2015 when a freestyle video gained traction on YouTube. His official breakthrough arrived in 2018 with the release of "Straight Rhymez," a track that accumulated millions of views and earned high-profile co-signs from established UK rap figures such as Stormzy and Wiley.

Music Career and Achievements

Aitch rapidly established himself on the UK charts through a succession of hit singles and high-profile collaborations. His 2019 single "Taste (Make It Shake)" and 2022 single "Baby" both reached number two on the UK Singles Chart. He also appeared on major tracks including the remix of Ed Sheeran's "Take Me Back to London" and Young T & Bugsey's "Strike a Pose". Following the success of his extended plays AitcH2O (2019) and Polaris (2020), he released his debut studio album, Close to Home, in August 2022, which peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart. His industry impact was formally recognized when he won the BRIT Award for Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act in 2023.

Public Persona and Advocacy

Beyond his recording career, Aitch maintains a popular online presence and frequently participates in broadcast television and media projects. In late 2025, he joined the cast of the reality television series I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, ultimately finishing in fourth place. Off stage, he is an active ambassador for the Down's Syndrome Association, a charitable role inspired by his younger sister Gracie. He notably allocated a portion of his music video budget for the single "My G" as a donation to the organization.
