He is Canada's top-ranked singles player and reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 4 on June 8, 2026, as well as a career-high doubles ranking of No. 60 in November 2021. Over his career, Auger-Aliassime has won nine ATP Tour singles titles and one doubles title. He was a key member of the winning Canadian teams at both the 2022 ATP Cup and 2022 Davis Cup, and won a bronze medal in mixed doubles alongside Gabriela Dabrowski at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He is the second-highest-ranked Canadian man in ATP rankings history and tied for the second-highest-ranked Canadian player across ATP and WTA history.

Auger-Aliassime was born in Montreal and raised in L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec. His father, Sam Aliassime, is a tennis instructor of Togolese descent, and his mother, Marie Auger, is of French Canadian descent. He began playing tennis at age four, training at Club Avantage as a member of the Académie de Tennis Hérisset-Bordeleau, and joined Tennis Canada's National Training Centre in Montreal in 2014. As a junior player, he reached No. 2 in the world junior rankings, accumulated a 79–19 singles record, won the 2015 US Open boys' doubles title with Denis Shapovalov, led Canada to its first Junior Davis Cup title in 2015 with Shapovalov and Benjamin Sigouin, and won the 2016 US Open boys' singles title.

In 2015, Auger-Aliassime made history as the youngest player to qualify for an ATP Challenger main draw and the first player born in the 2000s to earn an ATP ranking. He also became the youngest player to win an ATP Challenger main-draw match and to break into the top 800. He claimed his first professional singles title in 2016 at an ITF Futures tournament. In 2017, he won Challenger titles in Lyon and Sevilla, becoming the youngest player to break into the top 200 since Rafael Nadal in 2002. In 2018, he recorded his first tour-level match win at Indian Wells and became the youngest player to defend an ATP Challenger title in Lyon.

Auger-Aliassime made his tour-level breakthrough in 2019, reaching three ATP Tour finals, becoming the youngest ATP 500 finalist at the Rio Open, and reaching the semifinals of the Miami Open as the youngest semifinalist in tournament history. That year, he secured his first top-ten win against Stefanos Tsitsipas and reached the world's top 25. In 2020, he claimed his first ATP doubles title at the Paris Masters with Hubert Hurkacz. After hiring coach Toni Nadal in 2021, Auger-Aliassime reached his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at Wimbledon and his first major semifinal at the 2021 US Open, entering the ATP top 10 in November 2021.

In 2022, Auger-Aliassime won four ATP singles titles, led Canada to the ATP Cup and Davis Cup titles, and was selected as the Canadian Press athlete of the year. Following injuries, he returned to top form in 2025 to capture three more titles, reach the 2025 US Open semifinals, and break into the top five. At the 2026 French Open, he completed a career set of all four Grand Slam quarterfinals, becoming the first Canadian player to achieve the feat.
