Cynthia Addai-Robinson

Cynthia Addai-Robinson is an American television and film actress. She has gained widespread recognition for performing key roles across several major series, including portraying Naevia in Spartacus, playing the DC Comics character Amanda Waller in Arrow, and starring as Nadine Memphis in Shooter. She was also cast as Tar-Míriel in the Amazon Prime fantasy series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Born in London, England, to an American father and a Ghanaian mother, Addai-Robinson relocated to the United States at the age of four. She was brought up by her mother in a suburban area near Washington, D.C., and attended Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. She went on to study drama at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater, and underwent further acting training at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute.

Addai-Robinson began her career performing in Off-Broadway theatrical productions before landing her initial television screen credit in a 2002 episode of The Education of Max Bickford. Over the next several years, she made guest appearances on various television series, including Law & Order: Criminal Intent, CSI: Miami, Numb3rs, and Justice. She secured her first recurring television role in 2009 playing a nurse named Debbie on the ABC drama FlashForward, and she also featured in the independent movie Mississippi Damned that same year.

In 2011, she made her feature film debut in the action movie Colombiana, portraying the mother of the lead character. She achieved a major career breakthrough between 2012 and 2013 when she joined the main cast of the Starz series Spartacus, taking over the role of Naevia for the seasons titled Vengeance and War of the Damned following the departure of the original actress.

Following her time on Spartacus, Addai-Robinson appeared in guest and recurring roles across multiple projects. She played the witch Aja in The Vampire Diaries, appeared briefly in the feature film Star Trek Into Darkness, and performed in the television film Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret. Beginning in late 2013, she took on the recurring role of Amanda Waller in the superhero television series Arrow.

In 2015, Addai-Robinson featured as Emily D. West in the History Channel miniseries Texas Rising, a performance that earned her a nomination for a Women's Image Network Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series. On the big screen, she portrayed a U.S. Treasury Department analyst in the 2016 thriller feature film The Accountant alongside Ben Affleck and J. K. Simmons, later returning to reprise her role in its sequel, The Accountant 2. She also joined the USA Network series Shooter as the female lead, replacing the previously announced actress.
