Born in Delaware, Conover moved to South Carolina to attend the College of Charleston before earning his law degree from the Charleston School of Law. Alongside his television career, he pursued law and business ventures, eventually turning a passion for sewing and home decor into a commercial enterprise. In 2018, he co-founded the home decor and lifestyle brand Sewing Down South, which specializes in pillows, apparel, and home accessories. The brand launched a flagship retail store on King Street in Charleston in 2021.
In addition to his business ventures, Conover authored a memoir titled Pillow Talk: What's Wrong with My Sewing?, published in 2022. He continues to manage his lifestyle brand while participating in television appearances and public events.
