Cindy Bishop

Cynthia Carmen Burbridge-Bishop, professionally known as Cindy Bishop and Sirinya Winsiri, is a Thai model, television host, actress, and women's rights advocate. Born in Bangkok and raised in Pattaya, Thailand, she gained widespread recognition after winning the Miss Thailand World title in 1996 and representing her nation at the Miss World pageant. Throughout a career spanning over two decades, Bishop has established herself as one of Thailand's most recognizable media figures, earning acclaim for her work in fashion, broadcast television, and international activism.

Early Life and Pageantry

Cindy Bishop was born on December 30, 1978, in Bangkok, Thailand, to an American father and a mother of English, Thai, and Indian heritage. Raised in Pattaya, she developed a passion for scuba diving early in life, leading to her first underwater commercial assignment as a child. She attended Ruamrudee International School in Bangkok and later graduated with a degree in Public Relations from Bangkok University. In 1996, at age 17, Bishop entered and won the Miss Thailand World beauty competition, subsequently representing Thailand at the global Miss World contest in India.

Television and Entertainment Career

Following her pageant victory, Bishop transitioned smoothly into modeling, acting, and television presenting. She worked as a video jockey for Channel V Thailand and appeared in popular Thai television series, including the Thai adaptations of Gossip Girl and The O.C., as well as the drama F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers. Her film credits include the historical feature The King Maker (2005), for which she received a Suphannahong National Film Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and the American drama film All I See Is You (2016). Bishop gained international exposure as the host and head judge of Asia's Next Top Model from Season 4 through Season 6, and later hosted the regional model competition Supermodel Me.

Activism and Public Life

In 2018, Bishop launched the social media campaign #DontTellMeHowToDress to challenge victim-blaming and raise awareness about sexual harassment and women's rights in Thailand and across Southeast Asia. Her activist work led to her appointment as a UN Women Regional Goodwill Ambassador for Asia and the Pacific. She has also served as a guest speaker at global forums and co-founded Dragonfly 360, a platform promoting gender equality and conscious leadership across Asia.

Personal Life

In 2005, Cindy Bishop married long-time partner Byron Bishop, an actor and former model. The couple resides in Bangkok, Thailand, with their two children, Leila Carmen and Aiden William.
