Chanelle Hayes

Chanelle Jade Hayes, born Chanelle Jade Sinclair on 11 November 1987 in Wythenshawe, Manchester, is an English reality television personality, media personality, model, and singer. She is best known for her appearance as a housemate on the eighth series of the Channel 4 reality television show Big Brother UK in 2007.

Hayes was born to Andrea Sinclair, who died in April 1988 when Hayes was less than five months old. Following her mother's death, Hayes was put up for adoption and was raised in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, by her adoptive parents, Christine and Harry Hayes.

During her time on Big Brother UK in 2007, Hayes was involved in an on-and-off relationship with fellow housemate Ziggy Lichman and had a prominent feud with housemate Charley Uchea. She scored 114 on an in-house IQ test. After briefly leaving and returning on Day 61, she officially quit the show on Day 62 before making a brief return for a task on Day 89. Members of the online forum Digital Spy later voted her the Favourite Big Brother Housemate Ever, and she was voted second in a poll for Sexiest Female Housemate Ever. Hayes expanded her media presence with various television projects. In 2007, she served as a judge on the VH1 UK show Wannabe and subsequently starred in her own reality series, Wannabe: Popstar, in 2008. She wrote a Big Brother UK column for the Daily Star in 2008, appeared in advertisements for MTV UK's Fur TV, and made appearances on programs such as The Friday Night Project, Big Brother's Big Quiz, Losing It-Griff Rhys Jones on Anger, Celebrity Scissorhands, Loose Women, Ready Steady Cook, The Big Questions, This Morning, Totally Calum Best: The Best is Yet to Come, and Celebrity Juice.

Following her reality television debut, Hayes established a modeling career, regularly appearing on the covers of magazines such as Nuts and Zoo and participating in a photoshoot for Playboy Plus. She co-presented live broadcasts on Nuts TV alongside O.J. Borg and released calendars for 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2014, with her 2008 calendar becoming the fourth best seller of that year. Additionally, she worked as the lead model for Diva Corsets, promoted the Michelle for George lingerie line, and served as the promotional model for the 2009 Nintendo Wii video game MadWorld.

In mid-2008, Hayes signed with Eminence Records and released her debut single I Want It, which entered the UK Singles Chart at No. 63. A Ministry of Sound remix reached No. 2 on the UK Pop Club Charts and was later featured on Dance Dance Revolution Encore arcade machines in 2009. Although BBC Radio 1 declined to playlist the single and V Festival turned down her request to perform, she later signed with American record label Next Plateau Entertainment to distribute the song across promotional CDs.

Hayes opened a cake-making business in Wakefield in 2011 and released an autobiography titled Baring My Heart in 2014. She underwent gastric sleeve surgery in 2021 following weight gain from a food addiction. In 2024, she graduated from university and worked as a qualified nurse before leaving the profession a year later to join OnlyFans. Hayes has two sons, one with footballer Matthew Bates and another with Ryan Oates, whom she married in 2024.
