Britt Lower

Brittney Leigh Lower is an American actress who has established a career across television, film, and commercial projects. She is best known for her prominent roles as technology expert Tanya Sitkowsky in the drama series Unforgettable, Liz Greenberg in the romantic comedy series Man Seeking Woman, and Helly R. in the science fiction psychological thriller series Severance. Her work on Severance brought her widespread acclaim and a major industry acting award.

Lower was born on August 2, 1985, in Bloomington, Illinois, to parents Mickey and Steve Lower. She grew up in Heyworth, Illinois, alongside her older brother, Brugh. Her mother worked as a home economics teacher at Clinton Junior High School and ran a Central Illinois face painting business known as "the Zoo Lady." Lower occasionally assisted her mother, an experience that introduced her to traveling performers and sparked an early interest in circus arts such as juggling and tightrope walking. Lower graduated as valedictorian from Heyworth High School in 2004 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from Northwestern University in 2008. She also trained with improv groups including the Upright Citizens Brigade and ImprovOlympic.

Lower's television career gained momentum with a recurring role as technology specialist Tanya Sitkowsky on Unforgettable from 2011 to 2014. She achieved a breakout performance in 2015 when she was cast as Liz Greenberg on the FXX comedy series Man Seeking Woman, a role she played through 2017. In 2016, she appeared in the recurring role of Sarah Finn during the second season of the Hulu series Casual.

In addition to her recurring television roles, Lower has appeared in several other media projects. She acted in the second season of the anthology series American Horror Stories and played the main character in the music video for the song "Wolf" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Lower has also appeared in television commercials for Verizon and featured as a guest on The George Lucas Talk Show.

In 2022, Lower began starring as Helly R. in the Apple TV+ sci-fi psychological thriller series Severance. Her performance earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2025. Drawing on her lifelong interest in circus culture, Lower wrote and directed the 2020 short film Circus Person. During a three-year hiatus between the first two seasons of Severance, she spent a month acting in St. Louis in Circus Flora's show Quest for the Innkeeper's Cask.

In her personal life, Lower married British hairstylist Kenna Kennor in 2024. The couple met when Kennor styled her hair for the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony. They reside in Brooklyn with Kennor's two children from a previous marriage.
