Andrew Baldwin

Andrew James Baldwin (born February 5, 1977) is an American physician, U.S. Navy officer, ironman triathlete, model, and television personality. He gained widespread national media recognition in 2007 when he starred as the lead on the tenth season of ABC's reality dating series The Bachelor, titled The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman. Combining a career in military medicine with high-profile media appearances and commercial modeling, Baldwin has maintained a prominent presence across fitness, health advocacy, and entertainment sectors.

Early Life and Education

Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Baldwin demonstrated strong academic and athletic aptitudes from an early age. He was named valedictorian of his high school graduating class at Manheim Township High School in 1995 and was recognized as ESPN's National Scholar Athlete of the Year. He went on to attend Duke University on a Navy ROTC scholarship, competing as a varsity swimmer and graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1999. Baldwin subsequently earned his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine in 2003, after which he completed a general surgery internship with the U.S. Navy in San Diego and specialized in undersea medicine.

In 2007, Baldwin's unique background as a military physician and athletic public figure led to his casting as the central figure of ABC's The Bachelor.
