Alexandra Reid

Alexandra Reid is an American model, singer, rapper, and songwriter best known for making international music history as the first African American idol in a K-pop girl group. Originally starting her career in fashion modeling and reality television in Texas, she eventually transitioned into music, modeling for major brands, releasing solo pop and hip-hop records, and performing worldwide.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Born on March 5, 1989, in Kansas City, Kansas, Reid relocated to Plano, Texas, as a child, where she began working as a fashion model in the Dallas modeling scene. She first gained national media exposure in 2004 when she appeared as a contestant on the third season of the Discovery Kids reality competition series Endurance. Shortly after her television debut, her online music profiles attracted industry attention, leading her to move to New York City and Los Angeles. She signed a recording contract with Def Jam Recordings and a music publishing deal with Sony Music. During this period, she appeared in national advertising campaigns for major brands such as Adidas, Heineken, and Rocawear, while releasing her debut solo single Body to Body in 2011 and her debut extended play, Letters to My Ex, in 2012.

K-Pop Breakthrough with BP Rania

In November 2015, Reid achieved international prominence when South Korean entertainment label DR Music announced her addition to the K-pop girl group RaNia (later rebranded as BP Rania). Her debut with the group on the single Demonstrate made headline news across global music outlets, as she became the first Black artist to officially join a mainstream K-pop girl group. Beyond performing as a rapper and vocalist, she contributed as a songwriter for several of the group's tracks. After touring and promoting in South Korea for nearly two years, Reid officially departed from BP Rania in August 2017 to pursue independent artistic projects.

Following her departure from the K-pop industry, Reid returned to the United States to continue her career in modeling, songwriting, and digital media production.
