Adesuwa Thongpond Pariyasapat Aighewi is an American fashion model, filmmaker, and creative director known for her high-fashion runway appearances, editorial projects, and cultural advocacy. Discovered during her college years in Maryland, she rapidly established herself as a prominent figure in global fashion, walking for premier luxury fashion houses and appearing in major international publications. Alongside her modeling career, Aighewi has earned distinction as a filmmaker and digital storyteller, utilizing her platform to promote diverse creative expression and support independent African artistry.

Early Life and Background

Aighewi was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to a Thai-born Chinese mother and a Nigerian father, both of whom worked as environmental scientists. Growing up in a multicultural household, she spent parts of her childhood moving between the United States and Nigeria. Aighewi demonstrated strong academic aptitude early in life, entering the University of Maryland at age fifteen to pursue studies in chemistry with original ambitions of entering the medical field or working in diplomacy. However, after being discovered by a talent scout on her university campus, she decided to shift her focus toward full-time modeling and media production.

Modeling Career

Aighewi made her mark on international fashion runways with high-profile appearances for major brands such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Fendi, Yeezy, Alexander Wang, Michael Kors, and Kenzo. In 2018, she was named runner-up for Breakout Star of the Year by models.com, and she was subsequently ranked among the top fifty models globally in 2019. Her editorial work includes cover stories and features in leading fashion publications such as Vogue, i-D, L'Officiel Paris, and W Magazine. Recognized for her distinctive personal style, she also won the Industry Choice award for Best Street Style at the 2019 Models.com Model of the Year Awards.
