Aarón Sánchez

Aarón Sánchez is an American chef, restaurateur, television personality, author, and philanthropist. Born in El Paso, Texas, in 1976, he was raised in a culinary family as the son of celebrated chef and author Zarela Martínez. He spent his youth learning traditional Mexican cooking before training professionally in New York City and working under noted chefs. He is widely recognized for promoting contemporary Latin and Mexican cuisines across North America.

Sánchez made his television footprint as a long-standing judge on Food Network shows such as Chopped and Chopped Junior, alongside hosting Cooking Channel's Taco Trip. In 2017, he joined the judging panel of FOX's reality competition series MasterChef and later MasterChef Junior. Over his career, he has appeared on numerous culinary programs including Iron Chef America and hosted Spanish-language productions such as 3 Minutos con Aarón and El Toque de Aarón.

Beyond television, Sánchez is a restaurateur whose ventures include the Mexican establishment Johnny Sánchez in New Orleans. He has authored cookbooks such as La Comida del Barrio and Simple Food, Big Flavor, as well as his 2019 memoir, Where I Come From: Life Lessons From a Latino Chef. A recipient of a James Beard Foundation Award for Television Studio Program, he also co-founded COCINA Media and established the Aarón Sánchez Impact Fund to mentor and provide scholarships to aspiring Latino culinary students.
