Zach King

Zachary Michael King, born on February 4, 1990, is an American filmmaker and online content creator widely recognized for his short videos featuring seamless visual effects, which he refers to as digital sleight of hand. He first established an online presence on YouTube before earning widespread attention through the short-form platform Vine and later building a massive audience on TikTok.

Raised in Portland, Oregon, King is of Chinese, Austrian, and Nicaraguan heritage. He was homeschooled alongside his three sisters, while his father worked from a home office. King discovered an interest in filmmaking at seven years old using a home camera, and by fourteen he had acquired professional editing equipment and cameras to hone his craft. He later attended Biola University, graduating in December 2012 with a degree in film and music alongside a minor in worship.

In 2008, King launched FinalCutKing.com to provide video editing software tutorials, which he also shared on YouTube. Proceeds from software training seminars helped fund his college education. His creative video work gained major traction in 2011 with the release of the viral video Jedi Kittens, which spawned multiple successful sequels. YouTube designated him as one of America's 25 most promising young filmmakers in May 2013 through its Next Up Creators contest. He also appeared on the Syfy show Viral Video Showdown in 2012.

King began posting daily on Vine in September 2013, turning his viral popularity into a full-time profession by 2014 and appearing on national broadcasts such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He later transitioned to TikTok starting in February 2016. Supported by a 25-person production crew, King created a popular video titled "Zach Kings Magic Broomstick" in December 2019, which achieved billions of views and was officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the platform's most viewed video.

Beyond video creation, King became a published author in 2016. He wrote three Minecraft-based books: My Minecraft Escapades, Minecraft Mathematicians, and A Minecraft Wish Granted. He subsequently created the interactive Magic Life fantasy book trilogy based on his personal experiences, releasing Zach King: My Magical Life in 2017, followed by The Magical Mix-Up in 2018 and concluding with Mirror Magic.

King is a devout Christian who often incorporates his religious faith into his work and personal routine. He married Rachel Holm in 2014 following an advertisement-themed proposal, and the couple competed together on The Amazing Race 28 in 2016. They resided in Rossmoor, California, and share four children: adopted son Mason, biological son Liam, daughter Emerson, and son Carson, alongside having served as foster parents.

In 2021, former producer Elisabeth Logan initiated a lawsuit against King and King Studio LLC, making allegations including wrongful termination, gender discrimination, wage violations, and sexual harassment. King has not issued a public statement regarding the litigation.
