MrBeast

James Stephen 'Jimmy' Donaldson, known professionally as MrBeast, is an American YouTuber, digital content creator, media personality, and entrepreneur. Born on May 7, 1998, he is widely recognized as the most-subscribed individual creator on YouTube, having redefined modern digital entertainment through large-scale challenge videos, massive giveaways, and high-production stunt content.

Early Life and Career Origins

Donaldson was born in Wichita, Kansas, and raised primarily in Greenville, North Carolina. He launched his main YouTube channel in February 2012 under the username MrBeast6000 at the age of 13. His early content consisted mostly of video game commentary and videos estimating the wealth of other digital stars. Donaldson's broad online breakthrough came in early 2017 when he posted a viral video of himself counting to 100,000 over forty hours. This accomplishment established his signature format of absurd endurance challenges and high-effort stunts, setting the foundation for his future channel growth.

Content Style and Major Projects

Over the years, MrBeast evolved his content model into high-budget game shows, philanthropy initiatives, and complex survival competitions. His channel gained international renown for elaborate projects, including real-life recreations of popular media properties like Squid Game, multi-million dollar prize competitions, and endurance challenges lasting days or weeks. To sustain his production pipeline, Donaldson established a massive studio infrastructure and production headquarters based in Greenville, North Carolina. His ecosystem includes secondary channels such as Beast Philanthropy, MrBeast Gaming, and Beast Reacts, expanding his reach across multiple sub-genres of online video.

Business Ventures and Philanthropy

Beyond video creation, Donaldson has launched several global consumer and media businesses. He founded Beast Industries, which encompasses consumer packaged goods brand Feastables, a chocolate and snack line, and previously ran the virtual restaurant concept MrBeast Burger. He also co-created large-scale environmental movement campaigns, including Team Trees—which raised tens of millions of dollars to plant trees worldwide—and Team Seas, focused on removing trash from oceans and rivers. Additionally, his charitable organization, Beast Philanthropy, regularly donates meals, housing, and medical aid to communities globally.

Personal Life

Donaldson maintains his primary residence and business headquarters in Greenville, North Carolina. In July 2026, he married fellow content creator and author Thea Booysen, following an engagement in late 2024. Donaldson is known for his focused work ethic and ongoing efforts to pioneer new formats in global digital media.
