Veronica Maggio

Veronica Sandra Karin Maggio is a Swedish singer and songwriter born on 15 March 1981 in Uppsala, Sweden, to a Swedish mother and an Italian father. She is one of Sweden's prominent pop artists, having released multiple chart-topping albums and top-20 singles. Beyond her solo recordings, Maggio has written songs for other musical acts, including co-writing the 2013 track "Hey Brother" for Avicii and collaborating with artist Maja Francis in 2015.

During her youth, Maggio attended Uppsala Musikklasser primary school and studied music at Bolandgymnasiet in Uppsala. Before beginning her solo career, she served as the lead vocalist for the music group Solitude alongside members Daniel Fredriksson, Marcus "Gonzo" Berglund, Karl Jansson, and Kristoffer Hoflund. She signed a recording contract with Universal Music in 2006.

Maggio released her debut single, "Dumpa mig," in March 2006, followed by her debut album, Vatten och bröd. Written primarily by Stefan Gräslund, the record achieved commercial success and won her the Newcomer of the Year award at the Grammisgalan in 2007. In March 2008, she released her second album, Och vinnaren är..., written and recorded with Oskar Linnros. The release brought international success, with the single "Måndagsbarn" reaching number one in Norway. In 2011, Maggio released Satan i gatan, collaborating with producers Christian Walz and Markus Krunegård. The album topped the charts in both Sweden and Norway, anchored by the successful lead single "Jag kommer."

In October 2013, Maggio released her fourth album, Handen i fickan fast jag bryr mig, featuring production by Salem Al Fakir, Vincent Pontare, and Magnus Lidehäll, as well as a duet with Håkan Hellström titled "Hela huset." She released her fifth album, Den första är alltid gratis, in May 2016, and was recognized that year as the most streamed artist on Spotify in Sweden since the platform's launch. Her sixth studio album, Fiender är tråkigt, was released in September 2019 following an EP release strategy and reached number one on the Swedish charts.

Maggio launched her seventh album, Och som vanligt händer det något hemskt, in May 2022, which peaked at number three in Sweden and earned her the Grammis award for Pop of the Year in 2023. She expanded her collaborations in 2023, releasing "Under någon ny" with Miriam Bryant—which won Song Quote of the Year at P3 Guld 2024—and "Occhi d'amore" with producer duo NOTD. Her 2023 cover of Håkan Hellström's "Det kommer aldrig va över för mig" debuted at number one on the Swedish singles chart.

In April 2025, Maggio released "Inte bra i grupp" as the lead single from her eighth album, Sciura, recorded in Italy with producer August Vinberg. That same year, she co-wrote and signed on to make her acting debut in the film 7 steg alongside Joel Spira. In her personal life, Maggio has two children, a son born in October 2011 and a daughter born in 2019, with Nils Tull of the band Hoffmaestro & Chraa.
