Tom Holland

Thomas Stanley Holland is a British actor born on 1 June 1996 in Kingston upon Thames, London. He is widely recognized for playing Peter Parker and Spider-Man across several Marvel Cinematic Universe films. His films as a leading actor have grossed over $15 billion worldwide, making him the third highest-grossing actor of all time. His accolades include a British Academy Film Award, and he was featured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list in 2019.

Holland grew up in Kingston upon Thames with his parents, photographer Nicola and comedian-author Dominic Holland, along with three younger brothers. Diagnosed with dyslexia at age seven, he attended Donhead Preparatory School, Wimbledon College, and later the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. He developed an interest in dance as a child and briefly attended a carpentry school in Wales during his teenage years.

His performing career began at age nine after he was noticed at a dance festival by a choreographer. Following two years of training in ballet, tap dancing, and acrobatics, Holland made his West End stage debut in 2008 in Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre. He was later promoted to the lead role of Billy Elliot, which he performed from 2008 to 2010.

Holland made his feature film debut in the 2012 disaster drama The Impossible, playing a teenager trapped during a tsunami. His performance earned critical praise and awards, including the London Film Critics Circle Award for Young British Performer of the Year. Following this success, he decided to pursue acting as a full-time career, appearing in films such as How I Live Now, In the Heart of the Sea, and The Lost City of Z, as well as the television miniseries Wolf Hall.

In 2015, Holland signed to play Peter Parker and Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making his debut in Captain America: Civil War in 2016. He starred in his first solo feature as the character in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, becoming the youngest actor to play a title role in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film. He reprised the superhero role in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Brand New Day.

Beyond his superhero appearances, Holland has expanded his filmography with diverse roles in feature films and animated projects. He played against-type roles in crime dramas such as The Devil All the Time and Cherry, starred in big-budget productions including Uncharted and The Odyssey, and lent his voice to animated features including Spies in Disguise and Onward.

On television, Holland starred in the Apple TV+ psychological thriller limited series The Crowded Room. In 2024, he returned to the stage to play Romeo in a West End revival of Romeo and Juliet. Outside of acting, Holland is married to his Spider-Man co-star Zendaya, and his family established The Brothers Trust, a charitable organization focused on raising funds for humanitarian causes.
