Tate Farris

Tate Sequoya Farris, professionally known as Baby Tate and formerly as Yung Baby Tate, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Born on May 13, 1996, in Decatur, Georgia, she is the daughter of musicians Dionne Farris and David Ryan Harris. Raised by her mother without contact from her father, she was encouraged to pursue music from a young age. She began dancing and playing the piano early in her childhood and started creating her own instrumentals at age 13.

Farris launched her musical career under the alias Yung Baby Tate, releasing her debut project, the extended play ROYGBIV, in November 2015. She followed this with a holiday-themed extended play titled YBTXMAS in December 2016. In early 2019, she created a short film to accompany her upcoming full-length debut project. Her first studio album, Girls, arrived in February 2019 and earned positive critical reception, including recognition from XXL as one of the year's top hip-hop releases. Additionally, her track "Beckham" was featured in the pilot episode of the television drama Euphoria in 2019, and she released a cover of Nicki Minaj's "Megatron" later that July.

In 2020, Farris signed with Issa Rae's label, Raedio, contributing two tracks to the soundtrack for the television show Insecure. She collaborated with British musical artist Bree Runway on the song "Damn Daniel" in April 2020. Later that year, in December, she put out her sixth extended play, After the Rain, which featured the singles "Rainbow Cadillac" and the viral hit "I Am" featuring Flo Milli. She expanded the project with a deluxe version in May 2021, preceded by the promotional track "Eenie Meenie."

Farris officially shortened her performer name to Baby Tate in late 2021. That same year, she signed a major label recording agreement with Warner Records and released her inaugural single with the company, titled "Pedi," in October. Her television appearances expanded as she joined the cast of the reality series Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta for its tenth season in July 2021. The following year, she performed as a supporting act across North America for Charli XCX's Crash: The Live Tour. In October 2023, she released the extended play Baby Tate Presents: Sexploration the Musical.

In September 2024, Farris featured alongside the electronic group Ghost Town on the track "Butter" by Prof, with its accompanying video premiering the following month. Throughout her career, Farris has cited a wide array of creative influences, including her mother, musicians such as Nicki Minaj, Migos, Future, Gucci Mane, and CeCe Peniston, as well as the television program RuPaul's Drag Race. On a personal level, Farris identifies as pansexual.
