Stephanie Seymour

Stephanie Michelle Seymour is an American model and actress born on July 23, 1968. She gained prominence during the 1980s and 1990s as one of the most widely recognized supermodels of her era. Throughout her career, she has been featured on major fashion magazine covers, served as a primary model for well-known fashion brands, published beauty advice, launched her own lingerie brand, and taken on acting roles across film, television, and video games.

Seymour was born in San Diego, California, as the middle child of a California real estate developer father and a hairstylist mother. She began her modeling career in her hometown, working for local department stores and newspapers. Her early breakthrough occurred in 1983 at age 15, when she became a finalist in the inaugural Elite Model Management Look of the Year modeling contest.

During the late 1980s and 1990s, Seymour established herself as a major figure in fashion modeling. She appeared in multiple issues of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and on the cover of Vogue. During this era, she was also a key lingerie and hosiery model for Victoria's Secret, appearing in its mail-order catalogs and retail stores, and later became a Victoria's Secret Angel. She posed for Playboy magazine in March 1991 and February 1993. Seymour was categorized among the premier supermodels of the decade alongside figures such as Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Claudia Schiffer.

In addition to print editorial work, Seymour expanded into brand campaigns and published media. In 1998, she authored the book Stephanie Seymour's Beauty Secrets for Dummies. She appeared in a 2006 Gap promotional campaign alongside her children and featured in Salvatore Ferragamo's fall/winter 2007/2008 advertising campaign with Claudia Schiffer, photographed by Mario Testino in Italy. Seymour was named a global spokesmodel for Estée Lauder in 2014, and in 2017, she co-founded and launched Raven & Sparrow, a high-end lingerie line sold exclusively through Barneys New York.

Seymour also pursued work as an actress across three distinct media formats. Her debut acting role was as live-action explosives expert Cynna Stone in the video game Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller. In 2000, she portrayed artist Helen Frankenthaler in the biographical film Pollock. Her television credits include a 2002 appearance as Sara Lindstrom in the "Crazy" episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Seymour's personal life has included high-profile relationships and family milestones. She was married to guitarist Tommy Andrews from 1989 to 1990, with whom she has a son, Dylan. In the early 1990s, she was engaged to Guns N' Roses lead singer Axl Rose and appeared in the music videos for "Don't Cry" and "November Rain." Seymour later married businessman Peter Brant in Paris in July 1995. The couple has three children together: Peter II, Harry, and a daughter. Although Seymour filed for divorce in March 2009, the couple reconciled in 2010. Their son Harry passed away in January 2021.
