Sandra Yi Sencindiver

Sandra Yi Sencindiver is a South-Korean-born Danish-American actress, writer, and artistic director. She has appeared across international television productions, film, and theater, while also working as a creative lead and advocate within the performing arts.

Born in Busan, South Korea, Sencindiver and her twin sister were adopted by an American father and a Korean mother. After her father remarried a Danish woman, she relocated to Denmark at nine years old. During her childhood, she was encouraged to pursue classical piano, singing, dancing, and acting, writing her first play when she was ten.

Her professional acting career began at the age of twenty when she was cast in a Danish stage production of Miss Saigon. She later expanded into screen acting, securing roles in notable Danish television programs such as The Killing and The Bridge. In addition to her camera work, she served as the artistic director for the theater collective danskdansk and performed voice work for video games in the Assassin's Creed franchise, including Valhalla and Dawn of Ragnarök.

Sencindiver's career includes a range of prominent international screen projects. Her credits feature appearances in the series Backstrom, playing Lady Amalisa in Amazon Prime Video's The Wheel of Time, and portraying Rue Corintha in the second season of Foundation. In 2023, she wrote and starred in the short film Watch, and in 2024, she played fashion executive Yuji Lee in the Netflix production Geek Girl. She was subsequently cast in the television series Alien: Earth.

Beyond her creative projects, Sencindiver is an advocate for diversity within the Danish film and television sectors. She co-founded the advocacy group Et større Billede (A Bigger Picture) alongside fellow actresses Laura Allen Müller, Malaika B. Mosendane, Şiir Tilif, and Dorcas Joanna Hansen. Her efforts led to discussions on industry representation with major Scandinavian production entities, the Danish Film Institute, the Danish Producers' Association, the Association of Danish Film Directors, and the Danish Minister of Culture.
