Richa Moorjani

Richa Shukla Moorjani is an American actress who has gained widespread recognition for her performances on television. She is most prominently known for playing Kamala in the Netflix comedy-drama series Never Have I Ever, as well as Indira Olmstead in the fifth season of the American crime drama series Fargo.

Moorjani was raised in Saratoga, California, where her family resides and managed a Bollywood music group. Her father comes from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and her mother is from Karnataka. She attended Saratoga High School and later enrolled at the University of California, Davis. She graduated in 2011 after earning a degree in communications with a minor in dramatic arts.

In the early stages of her acting career, Moorjani appeared in guest roles on various television programs, including 9-1-1, NCIS: Los Angeles, and The Mindy Project. Beyond television, she lent her voice to the 2018 online action role-playing game Fallout 76, which was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks.

Moorjani achieved a major career breakthrough after securing a role through an open casting call for Never Have I Ever, a Netflix original series created in part by Mindy Kaling. From 2020 through 2023, she portrayed Kamala Nandiawada, the cousin of the main character Devi. While working on the show, she spoke publicly about researching the challenges faced by women of color in STEM fields, noting systemic issues such as their exclusion from research papers.

In addition to her main television series, Moorjani took on a lead role in the film project Broken Drawer, directed by Rippin Sindher. The movie is loosely based on actual events regarding a young Sikh mother who died while working at a rural California convenience store owned by her family.
