Rosi Golan

Rosi Golan is an Israeli singer-songwriter best known for her independent album releases and extensive music placements across television, film, and commercial advertising. Born in Israel, she spent part of her childhood living in Germany and Paris before moving to Los Angeles at nine years old. In Los Angeles, Golan bought her first guitar, began writing original material, and started performing at local open mic events.

In 2003, Golan relocated to New York City to record her initial demo tracks, promoting her work through Myspace and establishing co-writing partnerships. One of her early collaborations with United Kingdom songwriter Jamie Hartman resulted in the track "Let Me Out." Released in the UK by EMI as Golan's debut single, the song earned a nomination for the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song. In 2006, she received the inaugural ASCAP Robert Allen Award for songwriting excellence, awarded during a ceremony at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Golan secured a major commercial placement in 2007 when her song "Shine" replaced Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" as the worldwide theme for Pantene. "Shine" was subsequently issued as a single in July 2008. On November 18, 2008, Golan released her debut full-length album, The Drifter & the Gypsy, produced by Marshall Altman and issued independently on her own imprint, Gypsy Betch. She toured through 2009 and 2010 in support of the record, headlining dates and opening for artists including William Fitzsimmons, Greg Laswell, Ari Hest, and Jay Nash.

In 2010, Golan wrote the song "Bee," which became a top-three hit on the German charts. She released her second studio album, Lead Balloon, on September 27, 2011, via Gypsy Betch. Produced by Tony Berg, the record included collaborations with Iain Archer, Johnny McDaid, Natalie Hemby, and Boots Ottestad, alongside appearances by Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody and guitarist David Rawlings. On the same date, Golan released Little Apple, a side project with Ari Hest. She toured the United States and Europe behind Lead Balloon, supporting Joshua Radin and Wakey!Wakey!, and her song "Can't Go Back" was later recorded by country group Little Big Town for their album Tornado.

On October 15, 2013, Golan released the Fortuna EP, recorded in Nashville over two weeks and produced by Ian Fitchuk; it debuted at number eight on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart. She followed this on July 14, 2017, with the pop release Collecting Bullets EP. In 2020, Golan co-wrote "Loyal, Brave, True" with Jamie Hartman, Billy Crabtree, and Harry Gregson-Williams for Disney's live-action film Mulan, recorded by Christina Aguilera. Golan's compositions have also been featured in feature films such as Dear John and Tiger Eyes, as well as television series including Grey's Anatomy, Vampire Diaries, Private Practice, Brothers & Sisters, One Tree Hill, and Ghost Whisperer.
