Early Life and Career Beginnings

Raised in a skiing family in Edwards, Colorado, Shiffrin began skiing at a very young age under the encouragement of her parents, Eileen and Jeff Shiffrin. She honed her technical skills while attending the prestigious Burke Mountain Academy in Vermont, an institution famous for producing top-tier ski racers. Shiffrin made her debut on the World Cup circuit in March 2011 at just 15 years old. She quickly proved her potential by securing her first World Cup podium later that year and claiming her first World Cup victory in December 2012 at age 17.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Shiffrin made history at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, becoming the youngest slalom champion in Olympic history at 18 years old. She continued her dominance at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games, capturing gold in giant slalom and silver in Alpine combined. Over the course of her remarkable career, she surpassed Swedish legend Ingemar Stenmark to set the all-time record for the most World Cup victories by any alpine skier, male or female. Alongside her individual race wins, she has secured multiple overall World Cup crystal globes and discipline titles in slalom, giant slalom, and Super-G, as well as multiple World Championship gold medals.
