Manuel Gutierrez Jr., professionally known as Manny MUA, is an American beauty content creator, makeup artist, and entrepreneur. Born on April 4, 1991, in San Diego, California, he gained widespread recognition as one of the pioneer male beauty influencers on platforms like Instagram and YouTube. Renowned for his detailed makeup tutorials, honest product reviews, and advocacy for cosmetics inclusivity, Gutierrez has broken traditional gender barriers in the beauty industry.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Raised in San Diego, Gutierrez originally planned to attend medical school to become a plastic surgeon and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in health science from San Diego State University. However, while working at Sephora and MAC Cosmetics counters, he discovered a passion for professional makeup artistry. He began posting beauty content on Instagram before launching his YouTube channel in July 2014, where his skilled tutorials and relatable humor rapidly built a dedicated following.

Rise to Prominence and Partnerships

In January 2017, Gutierrez achieved a major milestone when Maybelline named him its first male brand ambassador, featuring him in a national campaign for Colossal Big Shot Mascara alongside fellow creator Shayla Mitchell. Later that year, People magazine recognized him on its Most Beautiful list. Throughout his career, Gutierrez has collaborated with notable beauty brands—including Makeup Geek, Morphe Cosmetics, and OFRA Cosmetics—to release custom eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, and highlighters.

Entrepreneurship and Content Creation

Building on his digital success, Gutierrez launched his own cruelty-free cosmetics company, Lunar Beauty, in 2018. The brand offers custom-formulated eyeshadow palettes, lip products, and setting powders emphasizing quality and inclusivity. Beyond product development, Gutierrez creates tutorial videos, product commentary, and short-form beauty trends across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, while also co-hosting the podcast Fool Coverage with fellow creator Laura Lee.

Personal Life

Gutierrez resides in Los Angeles, California, where he manages Lunar Beauty and directs his digital media projects. Raised alongside two younger brothers, he frequently highlights the importance of family support in his career.
